Can be selected according to media type
The resin system and component design can be tailored to the specific chemical, its concentration, temperature and exposure time. Whether a particular combination is suitable depends on these conditions and the resin system used.
Without rust and coating cycles
GRP does not rust and, unlike steel, is not susceptible to conventional rust corrosion. Depending on the application, this can eliminate the need for additional anti-corrosion coatings and the associated rework.
Easier to convert
GRP profiles have a density of around 1.8 to 2.0 g/cm³, whilst steel has a density of around 7.8 g/cm³. Their lower weight makes them easier to handle and can simplify transport and installation in existing systems.
Electrically insulating
GRP is electrically insulating and non-conductive. Whether the specific design meets the required insulation values for the relevant part of the plant should be checked against the project data.
